With our expertise in FTTH technology and the complete product line with which to execute fiber-to-the-home, we are tailoring various architectures for some of the major Bell Operating Companies and other leading players in the communications industry. the final mile to the home.
FTTH emerging architectures require a new breed of application-specific cable designs. Based upon modifications to our already patented figure 8 cable technology, Sumitomo has developed patent-pending aerial and distribution optical cables. Through these new cables and optical components, high-speed data, broadband video, and narrow band telephony can be transported simultaneously through a passive optical network to offer completely integrated digital services directly to the subscribers home.
Our aerial drop and distribution cables use standard field-proven technologies that aid in multiple frequent accesses and rapid deployment. These cables increase productivity when splicing to feeder cables and can be factory terminated to create plug-n-play systems that eliminate installation steps, thus significantly reducing costs. The new cables are designed with the same high reliability standards as Sumitomos field-proven cables.
Sumitomo Electric Lightwaves tailor-made FTTH architecture also uses unique combination coupler/splice enclosures, network interface devices (NID), and accessory components. Sumitomo has moved forward to develop specifically designed aerial coupler/splice enclosures. We also manufacture the remaining FTTH System Components for Pole Mount Terminal and Closure approaches to the FTTH passive optical network.
