FTTx Service Drop Cables

Sumitomo’s All Purpose Armored cable is specifically designed as both a distribution or service drop cable and has the ability to manage the tight bend radius typically found in FTTx applications. Flexible strength rods, corrugated steel armor, and a highly engineered buffer tube provide the “perfect” balance between cable handling and cable performance.

Sumitomo’s DriCore® Armorlux™ Extra cable is a “perfect fit” for reducing cost and adding extra protection in the last mile of FTTx deployment.

The multi-purpose drop cables are designed to be the final link to the customer or business and can be used for both aerial and buried applications.

Designed to reduce deployment costs and eliminate the need for special tools (while being compatible with installation hardware standards), this cable can be deployed to subscribers’ locations and can be factory terminated, creating a plug-n-play system that eliminates installation steps, maximizes flexibility, and provides ease of deployment.

Sumitomo’s patent-pending Locatable Drop cable facilitates both increased cost savings and improved efficiency when installed as a low fiber count distribution cable and as the final drop to the premise. With this cable, the time-consuming process of grounding one or both ends of the cable is eliminated. Technicians simply zip or peel back the metallic locator by hand, separating it from the dielectric optical cable.

Due to the cable’s unique design, it can be detected underground using standard locating equipment. By easily removing the entire length of the locator, the cable can be used for aerial applications, as well. Lighter, smaller, and more flexible than armored cables, Sumitomo’s locatable drop cables offer a superior solution over existing armored-type cable for FTTP and FTTx applications.

Sumitomo’s Ribbon Drop cable the first FTTx ribbon drop cable introduced into the industry — is designed for quicker cable entry and features easy, hand peelable ribbon for quick hassle-free installation and mass fusion splicing. As the final link to the customer, the ribbon drop is compatible with hardened multi-fiber connections (MFCs), ideal for terminal tether, and used for both aerial and buried applications.

The ribbon design incorporates both Sumitomo’s PureBand standard SMF or PureAccess bend-insensitive SMF fiber. The new Ribbon Dropfully compliments Sumitomo’s TomCat™(Type-25M) mass fusion splicer for faster,lower cost, and efficient FTTx deployments.
